Nutrition Guidelines and Fitness for Health: What you Should Know in The Era of Social Media and the New Guidelines - Karl Nadolsky, DO, FACE, DABOM & Spencer Nadolsky, DO, DABOM

Nutrition and fitness guidelines are evolving — and the gap between what the evidence supports and what is circulating on social media has never been wider or more consequential for clinical practice. In this session, Drs. Karl and Spencer Nadolsky bring complementary expertise in endocrinology, obesity medicine, and digital health to a timely review of the new nutrition and physical activity guidelines: what has changed, what the evidence actually shows, and how clinicians can help patients navigate a social media landscape flooded with conflicting, oversimplified, and often harmful messaging. From protein targets and resistance training recommendations to the clinical application of updated dietary guidance, this session equips clinicians with the evidence-based framework and practical language to cut through the noise — for their patients and themselves.

Karl Nadolsky, DO, FACE, DABOM, is a clinical endocrinologist and obesity specialist at Holland Hospital and Director of the Diabetes & Endocrinology Clinic at the Gym in Holland, Michigan, where he integrates evidence-based metabolic and lifestyle medicine into a purpose-built clinical setting. He holds triple board certification in Internal Medicine, Diabetes/Endocrinology & Metabolism, and Obesity Medicine, and serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. A former US Navy physician, Dr. Nadolsky developed and directed the Diabetes, Obesity & Metabolic Institute and served as faculty for the endocrinology fellowship program at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He is a co-author of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) 2016 Clinical Practice Guidelines for Comprehensive Medical Care of Patients with Obesity and the lead author of the 2025 AACE Comprehensive Obesity Management Algorithm update. He co-hosts the Docs Who Lift podcast, dedicated to combating health misinformation with evidence-based clinical education.

Spencer Nadolsky, DO, DABOM, is a board-certified family medicine physician and obesity and lipid specialist with a career at the intersection of clinical medicine, digital health, and public health education. A pioneer in telemedicine-based obesity care, he founded and led the Sequence obesity platform, which was acquired by WW (Weight Watchers), where he subsequently served as Medical Director. Dr. Nadolsky has spent more than two decades using digital and social media platforms to deliver evidence-based nutrition, fitness, and metabolic health information at scale — and has become one of medicine's most recognized voices in countering online health misinformation. He co-hosts the Docs Who Lift podcast alongside his brother Karl, focusing on obesity, hormones, nutrition, and lifestyle medicine for both patients and clinicians.
