The New NKT's and Other Options for Menopause Management - Laurie S. Jeffers, DNP, FNP-BC, MSCP

Menopause management continues to evolve, with new nonhormonal treatment options expanding the choices available for women seeking symptom relief. In this session, Laurie Jeffers, DNP, will review available non-hormonal therapies (NHTs), including pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic options. She will discuss the newer neurokinin receptor antagonist medications as well as other nonpharmacologic interventions. Designed for a consumer audience, this discussion will help you understand the range of treatment options available today and support informed conversations with your healthcare provider about what may work best for you.

Laurie S. Jeffers, DNP, FNP-BC, MSCP—Dr. Jeffers is the Cofounder and former Codirector of the Center for Midlife Health and Menopause at NYU Langone Health. She has been a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specializing in women’s health for over 25 years. Prior to her position at Langone Health, she was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing at NYU. She has taught graduate students in midwifery and women’s health at both NYU and Duke University, and undergraduate students in global women’s health at NYU. Dr. Jeffers also ran her own independent practice, Well Woman Care, LLC, which served the needs of women along the lifespan in her community. She has lectured extensively throughout the greater New York area on women’s health issues to both the community and healthcare professionals. She earned both her DNP and BSN from Duke University. Her doctoral research focused on a quality-improvement project for midlife women experiencing menopause symptoms. Dr. Jeffers has been an active member of The Menopause Society and is a Menopause Society Certified Menopause Practitioner (MSCP). She was elected to the Board of Trustees of The Menopause Society in 2021 and served as both Secretary and Treasurer. She also serves on the Exam Committee for the MSCP credentialing exam and the Scientific Advisory Committee.
