Type 2 Diabetes Management: Medications Other Than GLP’1s - Jyothi Joseph-Hayes, MD

GLP-1 receptor agonists have dominated the conversation in diabetes management — but they are not the right fit for every patient. In this session, Dr. Jyothi Joseph-Hayes provides a comprehensive, evidence-based review of the full landscape of Type 2 diabetes medications beyond GLP-1s, including SGLT-2 inhibitors, DPP-4 inhibitors, metformin, sulfonylureas, and newer agents. Dr. Joseph-Hayes will discuss the mechanisms, benefits, risks, and clinical considerations for each medication class, with a focus on individualized treatment decision-making for women at midlife and beyond. Attendees will leave with a clearer framework for selecting the right medication strategy for patients who cannot tolerate, do not respond to, or are not candidates for GLP-1 therapy.
