Traditional lipid panels don’t always tell the full story—especially when assessing cardiovascular risk in women. In this practical session, Dr. Caitlin Giesler will explore the role of advanced lipid testing, including lipoprotein(a), ApoB, and particle size, and when these tools can meaningfully impact clinical decision-making. She’ll share real-world insights on how to personalize prevention and treatment strategies using deeper lipid data, particularly in midlife women and those with complex risk profiles.
Caitlin Giesler, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist with a passion for advancing heart health in women through personalized, evidence-based care. She earned her BA in Biochemistry from The University of Texas and completed medical school at McGovern Medical School at UT Houston, followed by residency and cardiology fellowship training at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Giesler has been practicing in Austin since 2008.
Her dedication to women’s cardiovascular health began after the unexpected loss of her father to a heart attack during medical school—a turning point that led her to focus on heart disease prevention through research, advocacy, and education. As a midlife woman and mother herself, she brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her care.
Dr. Giesler believes in collaborative, individualized care rooted in science. She works closely with her patients to address their unique risk factors, improve daily quality of life, and reduce the long-term risk of cardiovascular disease.
