Adolescent Gynecology - Leslie Appiah, MD

Pediatric and adolescent gynecology sits at a unique intersection of developmental medicine, reproductive health, and patient-centered communication — and it requires a clinical skill set that most non-specialist providers haven't been formally trained to deliver. In this session, Dr. Leslie Appiah translates her fellowship-level expertise into a practical, accessible framework for the generalist clinician. From normal pubertal development and menstrual disorders to congenital anomalies, early fertility considerations, and trauma-informed examination techniques, this session equips non-specialist providers with the evidence-based tools and clinical confidence to evaluate, counsel, and appropriately refer their youngest patients. With a consistent focus on health equity and trust-centered care, this is an essential session for any clinician who encounters girls and young women in their practice.

Leslie Appiah, MD, is Professor and Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Meharry Medical College, Chief of Women’s Health Services at Nashville General Hospital, and Executive Director of the Center for Women’s Health Research. A fellowship-trained pediatric and adolescent gynecologist, she is a nationally recognized leader in fertility preservation, oncofertility, and reproductive health equity.
